We currently have a job opportunity within the GlobalMass team at the University of Bristol.
We are looking for a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to develop and extend the statistical framework (Bayesian Hierarchical Model, or BHM) that forms the basis of the GlobalMass project. The BHM is being used to combine a wide range of data sets (both ground-based and satellite), simulations from physical models and fundamental geophysical principles so that observed sea level rise can be attributed to its component parts. Applicants need to be familiar with modern practice in large-scale spatial statistics such as the SPDE approach to Gaussian Markov Random Fields, or the Integrated Nested Laplace Approximation approach, implemented in R.
The post is open-ended with funding for up to 33 months with a salary of £32,548 – £41,212 per annum, depending on experience. The closing date for applications is 8th October 2018. Interviews are likely to be held in late October, with an expected start date of January 2019.
